Police chase ends in crash

SAN DIEGO - A man was in jail Thursday morning after leading police on a brief chase overnight and crashing into several parked cars, the San Diego Sheriff's Department said.

The chase started at 12:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Sweetwater Springs Boulevard in La Presa near Spring Valley. Deputies noticed a silver Honda Civic sitting in the road and attempted to pull the car over.

The driver led authorities on a short chase before crashing into several parked cars on the 1600 block of Ramona Avenue near Eucalyptus Street. A K-9 unit was deployed and the suspect was bitten and taken to the hospital for the bite.

Several neighbors woke up after hearing the crash. Police have not yet released the man's identity or the charges he'll face.
