SAN DIEGO – A slow-speed pursuit through San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, during which the suspects stopped at every red light and stop sign, came to an end early Tuesday morning when two people surrendered, police said.

Police tried to pull a Chevy Impala over at Market Street and 21st Street just before 11:00 p.m. Monday night for traffic violations. When the driver refused to stop, a slow-speed chase ensued downtown.

Several police vehicles lined up behind the Impala as it drove through downtown, obeying all traffic laws and even stopping at every red light and stop sign along the way, police said.

The driver finally stopped at West Market and Columbia Street. A driver and a passenger were arrested and charged with failure to yield and evading an officer.

The identities of the suspects have not yet been released.
