SAN DIEGO -- San Diego police are investigating a burglary that resulted in the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars in valuables, including a collection of guns.

Police were called to the home on Antiem Street in Clairemont Mesa shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday. The homeowner was not home at the time of the burglary. He tells police a safe was stolen containing $200,000 in valuables and guns.

A neighbor says she called police when noticing all the doors were open to the home, at an unusual time.

“I mean, this is awful. To have all your personal things in the safe and someone takes the whole darn safe, something you think no one would ever take,” said the neighbor who asked not to be identified.

San Diego Police have not released a suspect description.
