VISTA, Calif. -- An armed robber held up a restaurant in Vista Monday night, shooting a customer in the process.

The robbery at Bistro 760 at 959 East Vista Way was reported about 8:19 p.m. Monday, just about 45 minutes before closing, according to San Diego sheriff's Sgt. Debbie Eglin.

Officer responded to the restaurant and found a wounded customer inside. She was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.

Police began a search for the suspect using dogs to track him. However, he ran from the scene and managed to escape, Eglin said.

Police had only a vague description of the suspect. They did not say how much money he took from the restaurant.
