SAN DIEGO — An attempt to extinguish a blazing Mercedes-Benz went terribly wrong, and what happened next was captured on video by flabbergasted witnesses.

It is not clear when or where the incident took place, but the video was posted to YouTube on Jan. 15, and the witnesses are speaking a foreign language — possible Swedish or Finnish.

The video shows a fully engulfed Mercedes-Benz parked at the top of a hill. A fire engine pulls up, and just as the firefighters begin spraying down the flaming sedan, it begins rolling down the hill. As witness shout exclamations, the camera follows the fireball as it gathers speed and crashes into a guard rail.

It doesn’t appear that anyone was injured, but the luxury sedan was clearly a total loss.
