Large street brawl sends 2 to hospital

SAN DIEGO – – Gang detectives were investigating a large street fight in Colina del Sol that sent two men to the hospital and one to jail, police said Tuesday.

Officers received a report of 30 juveniles fighting in the 5200 block of Trojan Avenue around 10 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros. Once there, officers found an 18-year-old man on the ground, beaten into unconsciousness, he said in a statement.

Based on witness reports, a man who was in the process of leaving the scene in a vehicle was stopped and arrested in connection with the beating, Delimitros said.

A few minutes later, officers learned a 44-year-old man had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. That shooting was believed to have occurred during the same fight, according to Delimitros. who said the wound was not life-threatening.
