SAN DIEGO —  A motorcyclist was hospitalized with a broken leg after he crashed into an SUV in a University Heights intersection, police said.

The crash at El Cajon Boulevard and Florida Street was reported at 8:17 p.m. Thursday, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.

The 57-year-old motorcyclist was headed north on Florida Street when a 29-year-old woman headed south in a Honda Pilot made a left-hand turn in front of the motorcycle and the two vehicles collided, Heims said in a statement.

The motorcycle and rider were pinned under the front of the SUV and the man suffered a broken right femur, Heims said. The injury was not life-threatening.
