Freeway chase ends in standoff on bridge over Mission Valley

SAN DIEGO, Calif - A high-speed chase that started in Anaheim ended in a standoff on the Interstate 805 bridge over Mission Valley early Friday.

Traffic was backed up on I-805 for more than 90 minutes  until police convinced a domestic violence suspect in his 20s to surrender.

The pursuit began around 12:40 a.m. and came to a halt on the freeway bridge around 1:45 a.m., according to authorities. The suspect finally surrendered around 3:30 a.m.

Anaheim police handled the incident, a CHP dispatcher said.
