CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. – Twenty-one dairy goats stolen from a Canajoharie farm were found after being sold on Craigslist.

The goats were reported missing from Loveknot Farm on Tuesday morning, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.

Turns out a man put an ad on Craigslist looking for goats. Another man saw the ad, stole the goats and sold them at $70 each.

The buyer told deputies he didn’t know the goats were stolen. He called the owners and is in the process of returning the goats, investigators told WNYT.com.

Even though the buyer is out the money be paid for the goats, he said returning them was the right thing to do.

Investigators are searching for the thief.
