Freeway closed briefly after 7-car pileup

SAN DIEGO — Two people were hospitalized early Tuesday after a seven-car pileup on Interstate 805.

The accident happened just before 1 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway near Market Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers shut down the southbound side of the freeway for about an hour while paramedics tended to injuries and the wrecks were towed off the roadway.

The two people transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital were treated for minor injuries.
