SAN DIEGO -- There was no need for many shoppers to camp out for Black Friday this year.
Stores like Kohl’s opted to keep their doors open overnight from Thursday into Friday for shoppers.
“It’s the deals that we’re after and if you don’t get the deals now, you may not get the deals later,” said Justin Yert, who was first in line at the Best Buy in Parkway Plaza in El Cajon when it opened Thursday at 5 p.m.
The same rush was seen at department stores.
Outside, people struggled to find a parking spot. Checkout lines were long, wrapping around inside the stores.
The Sickmeyers stood in line inside Wal-Mart on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. for close to an hour.
“But we got what we wanted,” said the couple as they tried to fit a freezer in their sedan.
