SAN DIEGO — Thousands of people hit the pavement Thanksgiving morning in an effort to give back to their local community.

The annual Run for the Hungry 5K/10K Run/Walk started at Broadway Circle, and traveled through the Gaslamp and East Village.

Profits from the event go right to the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, which is also partnering with the Jewish Family Service’s Food Assistance programs for the holiday season.

In San Diego, one in four children and one in five adults struggle with hunger.
