USD to face Montana in first round of FCS playoffs

SAN DIEGO – The University of San Diego football team will make their first-ever FCS playoff appearance against University of Montana.

The Toreros will match up with 13th-ranked Grizzlies, of the Big Sky Conference, on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Missoula.

The Grizzlies will make a record 23rd appearance in the Division 1-AA FCS playoffs and have advanced to the championship game seven times and two national titles.

The Toreros earned their berth by winning the Pioneer Football League.

The winner between USD and Montana will face Big Sky champion Eastern Washington in Cheney the following weekend.
