SAN DIEGO – Circumstances involving a former USS Boxer skipper who was relieved of duty in September were revealed in a report Thursday.

The investigation regarding Capt. Wayne R. Brown stated he verbally abused officers and senior sailors – especially women – by screaming and cursing, U-T San Diego reported.

According to the newspaper’s report, Brown advised female crew members about birth control and how to deal with their husbands and boyfriends. He was also accused of putting his hand on a woman’s waist or hip as he passed.

Brown was removed from the San Diego warship on September 29 citing “equal opportunity” issues, the Navy said.

Brown was one of 12 commanding officers relieved of duty by the Navy this year.
