NATIONAL CITY, Calif. — An 83-year-old Alzheimer’s patient who failed to return from an outing over the weekend turned up unharmed at her South Bay home Monday, authorities reported.

Detectives investigating the apparent disappearance of Maria McEntee found her at her apartment in the 900 block of South Euclid Avenue in National City, according to police.

McEntee told them she had met a friend at a seafood market Sunday morning and agreed to spend the night with her in Imperial Beach, Sgt. Alex Hernandez said.

A second acquaintance gave her a ride home Monday morning, the sergeant said.
