SAN DIEGO — A struggle over a laptop inside a home near San Diego State University early Saturday left a woman with scratches and bruises, but she kept her computer.

The woman awoke around 1 a.m. to find the suspect inside her residence in the 5600 block of Mary Lane Drive, south of Montezuma Road, attempting to steal her computer, according to a SDSU Police Department statement.

A brief struggle ensued, and the victim sustained minor injuries before the thief sped away in a gray four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with temporary plates and the metal exposed on its right rear passenger door, police said.

Police described the suspect as black, in his 20s and about 6-feet 1-inch tall.
