LA MESA, Calif. — A fire at a La Mesa home left seven people in need of temporary housing Saturday, but no one was injured.

Firefighters arrived shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday to find flames and smoke coming from the garage of the house on Rolando Knolls Drive, near 67th Street, according to the Heartland Fire & Rescue Department.

Crews had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes, authorities said.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the seven displaced residents, fire officials said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
