Man stabbed to death in street brawl

SAN DIEGO -- A man stabbed during a street brawl in the Ridgeview neighborhood died in a hospital early Thursday, police said.

The stabbing in the 2300 block of Ridge View Drive was reported at about 11 p.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego police Lt. Paul Rorrison.

When police arrived, they found a 23-year-old man lying on the sidewalk. He had been stabbed multiple times in the upper body, Rorrison said.

The victim, who was a resident of the neighborhood, was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital, where he died, Rorrison said.

Police were canvasing the neighborhood in an attempt to find witnesses to the fight.
