JULIAN, Calif. — Authorities searched for a fourth day Tuesday for a 75-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s disease who went missing from the Pinezanita RV Park and Campgrounds in Julian.

Sally Estabrook was last seen around 4 p.m. Saturday at the 26.5-acre campground in the 4400 block of state Route 79, north of Harrison Park Road, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

“Her husband took a shower, when he returned, she was gone,” said Melissa Aquino, San Diego Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman.

Her husband called the sheriff’s department to report her missing shortly before 5 p.m.

A sheriff’s department search and rescue team combed the area Saturday evening, and continued to do so on Sunday with no success.

On Tuesday, search teams from throughout Southern California arrived in Julian to find the woman.  Teams were working off a tip from someone who may have spotted Estabrook Sunday on Highway 79.

“Following this tip from a driver we sent volunteers to the 15 mile marker on Highway 79,” said Aquino.  “We then kept going south and then there were some footprints.”

Five canine teams are also part of the search effort.

“We’re a little nervous, because we’re worried about her,” said Pam Medhurst, volunteer.

Medhurst and her 9 year old beagle “Charlie” were headed to the area around Lake Cuyamaca.

“He’s going to be looking for scent and we’re going to be looking for any sign of footprints,” said Medhurst of her dog

Tuesday’s cooler weather helped volunteers.

“The scent holds better and the dog work longer and we can work longer,” said Medhurst.

“If she’s out there, the weather will also give her a break, shelter from the hot weather,” said Aquino.

Fox 5 spoke to the family who said they’re not giving up hope.  They said it’s not the first time Estabrooks has wandered off.  They are hoping someone picked her up and she’s somewhere safe.

Estabrook is white, 5-feet-4 and 145 pounds with shoulder-length blonde hair. She may be wearing a teal top and white knee-length pants. Sheriff’s officials said she is not very communicative but may respond to her name.

Authorities said if you see her, call her by Sally or Nanna and she may respond.

Anyone who spots Estabrook is asked to call 911 or the sheriff’s department at 858-565-5200.
