SAN DIEGO — Search crews Wednesday found a couple from Vista  who became lost while backpacking in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.

Four search-and-rescue teams found Rommel and Marisol Pompa in good condition Wednesday, according to a Sequoia National Park official. The teams and couple planned to camp overnight and walk down the mountain Thursday morning.

The married couple left on Sept. 25 to hike around the Rae Lakes Loop, a popular 41-mile trip that climbs to Glenn Pass at almost 12,000 feet. They was scheduled to return on Sept. 29. When they didn’t show up, family members contacted authorities.

Searchers on foot and horseback were being assisted by a National Park Service helicopter.
