SAN DIEGO - A San Diego State University student was sexually assaulted in her apartment early Saturday, an SDSU police detective said.

The assault occurred about 1:40 a.m. at The Granada on Hardy apartment complex at the corner of Hardy Avenue and 55th Street across from the SDSU Sports Deck, SDSU police Detective Cruz said.

The victim did not know the suspect, who followed her to her apartment while trying to befriend her, Cruz said. The suspect followed the victim into her bedroom and assaulted her, then fled the area when the victim's roommate arrived.

The suspect was described as a man in his early 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, with an average build, short brown hair, brown eyes and possibly unshaven.

Fox 5 San Diego you should note: The Granada apartment complex is official SDSU housing for freshmen students. This crime happened inside a dorm. Where is the security protecting these new freshmen?
