SAN DIEGO —  Police Monday were seeking a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman at an early-morning, off-campus party near San Diego State University.

The victim was attending a party at 12:30 a.m. at 5074 College Ave., SDSU police said.

“While at the party, the victim began talking with the suspect after being separated from her friends,” SDSU police said. “The man pretended to help the victim attempt to locate her friends, and escorted her into the bathroom where he sexually assaulted her. The victim was able to get away from the suspect and fled with friends.”

The suspect was described as a black man, 6 feet 7 inches tall, with a fit build weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a gray, long-sleeve shirt.

SDSU police warned people to observe some basic precautions to protect themselves, which include always being aware of your surroundings, avoiding dimly lit locations, avoiding becoming impaired by alcohol and to immediately report any suspicious activity to police.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say they should start the investigation within the athletics program.
