Chemical spill forces evacuation at UCSD

SAN DIEGO – A San Diego Fire Department Hazardous Materials team was sent to the campus of the University of California at San Diego late Friday.

According to fire officials, some sort of hazardous chemical was spilled in a social sciences building on the campus about 6 p.m.   Fire crews evacuated the building and no one was hurt.  The Hazardous Materials Team began a cleanup that was completed in about two hours. The building was reopened just before 9 p.m.
