3-vehicle crash blocks SR 78 near Safari Park
SAN DIEGO — A three-vehicle crash in the San Pasqual-area Thursday left two people injured and a stretch of a road closed in both directions.
A pickup truck and two cars collided just east of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park on San Pasqual Valley Road, near Bandy Canyon Road shortly after 8:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol and fire officials.
Two people were taken to hospitals following the crash, at least one by helicopter, according to San Diego police.
A SigAlert was issued for San Pasqual Valley Road, also known as Highway 78 on that stretch, which was closed in both directions at Bandy Canyon Road and to the east of the intersection, San Diego police Officer Ray Battrick said.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
