Fox 5 to launch 2 afternoon newscasts

Fox 5 San Diego announced the debut of two 1-hour newscasts Monday through Friday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. beginning Monday, September 8, 2014.

The two hour-long newscasts will air weekdays and provide the day’s headlines and weather forecasts for the San Diego community.

Currently, KSWB-TV produces the Fox 5 Morning News from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., evening newscasts at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. weekdays, and another four hours each weekend, all in high definition. With this news expansion, Fox 5 will now produce 56.5 hours of live news each week.

    Love to see Fox5sandiego become our local Fox News affiliate. Would love to see Sharon Chen and Jen Karlman as anchors for the 4pm newscast. Love all the girls from Fox5sandiego. Keep up the good work and keep becoming San Diego’s News Leader.

    really love the new idea of the two new newscasts. would b nice if u guys hired a well known anchor like Lisa Lake and have two sets of anchor teams in the morning n evening. watching same anchors every hour can b an eye sore. good luck though n looking forward to the 1 n 4 pm newscast

    Great idea. Would love to see Kristina Le and Jason Sloss anchor. Still waiting for a weekend morning show to start up too.
