Hiker airlifted off Torrey Pines trail

SAN DIEGO – An emergency helicopter hoisted a hiker from Torrey Pines Sunday after she suffered life threatening injuries, fire officials said.

A woman in her 40s was hiking the trails around 9:50 a.m. when she experienced heat exhaustion, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department official said. An air crew transported her to Scripps hospital.

Ron Rowe was hiking the trails when he captured video of the air rescue.  Other hikers told him the woman suffered heatstroke and was conscious during the rescue.

Her identity and an updated condition was not released Sunday evening.
