OTAY MESA, Calif. – An infant died soon after being transported from a family home day care in Otay Mesa to a hospital Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

San Diego police responded to a report of a 2-month-old boy not breathing at Mona’s Playhouse Daycare in the 4800 block of Sea Coral Drive around 12:30 p.m.

They said he was sleeping moments before he was found unresponsive.

After performing CPR, paramedics transported the baby to Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center where he was pronounced dead an hour later, police said.

Lt. Steve Behrendt with San Diego Police said, “There’s no foul play suspected. [The infant’s death] appears to be either medical or natural.”

Neighbors were also shocked to hear the news.

“It always seemed like it was a very, very safe, guarded daycare,” Joanna Arceo, a neighbor, said.

12 year old Eldric Tajanlangit lives next door to the daycare and said he and his younger brother both grew up in Mona’s Playhouse Daycare. He said the caretakers were kind people.

“They’re really nice. They’ve taken care of me a lot and I trust them with my life,” Tajanlangit said.

The cause of the child’s death was not immediately clear.

California has a track record of not checking employee back ground and baby deaths. The don’t want to piss off any illigals molesting your children.
