Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

SAN DIEGO — A sticky cash drawer foiled a would-be thief who tried to rob a Torrey Highlands bank Thursday, authorities reported.

The bandit approached a teller at the Wells Fargo branch office in the 7800 block of Highlands Village Place with a paper bag in his hand and demanded money shortly after 11 a.m., according to San Diego police.

When the clerk was unable to open a cash drawer, the man got upset and left. He was described as about a 5-foot-8-inch, 150-pound Latino in his 20s, wearing a navy blue T-shirt, SDPD Officer Frank Cali said.
