SAN DIEGO — A previously paroled sex offender was back behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 70-year-old Jacumba resident in her home, authorities reported.

John Wilson Kreischer, 68, allegedly entered the woman’s house late Monday morning, then forcibly kissed and fondled her. After several minutes, he left and drove off in a white pickup truck, according to sheriff’s public affairs.

The woman then made an emergency call. A short time later, deputies found Kreischer in the area and took him into custody.

The suspect was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of burglary, sexual battery, elder abuse and violation of parole. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Kreischer had been on parole due to a 2009 arrest for failing to register as a sex offender. Last year, he was freed from custody and placed on GPS monitoring under terms of his conditional release.
