Santa Ana Fisherman Reels in 482-Pound Pacific Halibut

LOS ANGELES – A 76-year-old Santa Ana man reeled in a massive Pacific halibut weighing in just shy of the record.

Jack McGuire was fishing in Alaska with friends when he hooked the 8-foot-long, 482-pound fish, according to KTLA-TV.

“I hollered out, ‘I have a big one!’ and I could tell right away that his was a hog,” said McGuire. “It was a back and forth battle. I was putting a 100 percent strain. I tried to tire him out as quickly as I could.”

His big catch was caught on video.
