All lanes of SR-163 reopen after multiple vehicles crash

SAN DIEGO – All lanes headed southbound on state Route 163 were shut down by California Highway Patrol officers after multiple vehicles collided Thursday afternoon.

CHP said several vehicles were piled up on SR-163 near Friars Road following the crash just after 4 p.m.

Paramedics transported two injured people to the hospital. Their conditions were unknown.

Traffic was temporarily diverted away from the area until 4:45 p.m. when all lanes were reopened in time for the evening commute.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
