Small brush fire sparks in riverbed

SAN DIEGO – A small vegetation fire sparked in the riverbed of the San Diego River Monday during the evening commute, authorities said.

Crews were working to extinguish the fire that burned a quarter acre near Morena Boulevard and the intersection of Interstates 8 and 5, according to the California Highway Patrol.

There are no reports of structural threats.
