BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A family cat saved a little boy from a vicious dog attack, and the entire incident was captured on the family’s home security camera.

Roger Trantafilo of Bakersfield posted the video on YouTube Wednesday. He wrote on the video post, “My cat defends my son during a vicious dog attack and runs the dog off before he can do additional damage. Thankfully, my son is fine.”

“Before I could even get there, my cat clobbered the dog,” Erika Trantafilo, the boy’s mother,  told CNN. She said the boy needed 10 stiches to close the wounds from the dog bite, but he was going to be OK.

Bakerfield Animal Control seized the dog, which belonged to a neighbor. They said the animal will be euthanized.

Please stop showing this on the news. Yes the cat did a good thing but two human families were negligent in their responsibilities. One by leaving a toddler with special needs on an open driveway by a road while the mother obviously was too far away to protect her child, it could have been a child predator in a car. The owners of the dog failed to ptovide a safe place for the dog to feel calm and secure and not scared by a loud unknown entity getting close to its territory. So the loser in all this is the poor dog who lost its life because of stupid people with no sense of responsibiliry. Unfortunately the child has to keep the same parents.
