surfrider_foundation SAN DIEGO — The Surfrider San Diego County Chapter will host its 14th annual Art Gala Friday evening at Paradise Point Resort and Spa on the Mission Bay waterfront.

The gala is the local Surfrider chapter’s biggest fundraiser of the year and will include a silent auction of around 80 ocean-themed paintings, photographs and sculptures along with vacation and spa packages, surf gear, and other luxury items.

Attendees will also participate in demonstrations by featured artists Wade Koniakowsky, Sean Dietrich and Rodney Rodrigo Mccoubrey, with the finished works being put up for auction, according to event organizers.

The gala will also include performances by folk rock artist and San Diego native Tristan Prettyman and San Diego-based Paul Cannon.

At last year’s event, more than $25,000 was raised to help the organization work to protect the region’s oceans and beaches and to help fund activities such as beach cleanups and planting ocean friendly gardens, according to Surfrider.
