SAN DIEGO — Police had their hands full trying to contain an angry crowd Friday after a shooting at an Oak Park barbershop left one person dead.

The gunfire erupted in Official Cutz, a barber shop at 54th and Redwood streets, shortly before 11:30 a.m., according to San Diego police.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, SDPD public-affairs Officer Mark Herring said.

Officers fanned out through the area in search of the shooter. Dozens of other officers were called into the neighborhood to protect the crime scene and control the crowd that gathered after word of the shooting spread through the neighborhood.

Helicopter video showed a number of clashes between members of the crowd. Police took several people into custody.
