Motorcyclist killed in collision with deer

motorcycleCAMPO, Calif. — A 45-year-old Potrero man was fatally injured in the far eastern reaches of San Diego County early Thursday when his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a deer, which also died.

The fatality on state Route 94 west of state Route 188 in the southern Campo area occurred around 4:45 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Pearlstein.

“The motorcyclist had no time to react as a deer ran out in front of him,” Pearlstein said in a statement. His name was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
