Fiery crash on I-15 slows evening commute

SAN DIEGO – A traffic accident resulted in a car fire that blocked lanes on Interstate 15 near Poway Road during Thursday’s commute, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two San Diego Fire-Rescue Department engines responded to the collision between a sedan and large SUV around 4:20 p.m.

The sedan caught fire while in the middle lanes of southbound I-15, CHP officer said.

Evening commuters were at a halt until firefighters extinguished the flames and moved the destroyed vehicle.

It was unknown if anyone was injured in the incident.
