U-Haul truck parked near Border Patrol HQ prompts bomb scare

Suspicious U-HaulCHULA VISTA, Calif. — A sheriff’s bomb squad was sent to investigate a U- Haul truck parked near the Border Patrol headquarters in Chula Vista Wednesday, police said.

The vehicle was spotted at 2411 Boswell Road about 7:30 a.m., according to Chula Vista police.

As a precaution, everyone in the surrounding area was evacuated, and nearby city streets were closed, police said.

Member of the San Diego Sheriff’s bomb squad searched the truck and determined that it was empty and posed no threat. As of 10:24 a.m., roads were reopened and people were allowed to return the evacuated buildings.
