Man injured in Kearny Mesa shooting

gunpointSAN DIEGO – A 23-year-old man was recovering from a gunshot wound to his head he suffered in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego, a police sergeant said.

Police were called to the 3200 block of Atlas Street at 10:23 p.m., Saturday after neighbors heard one loud “pop” sound, said San Diego police Sgt. L. Taylor.

When officers arrived they discovered a 23 year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head, Taylor said.

“He was transported to a local trauma center with a life-threatening injury,” the sergeant said.

There was no suspect information, Taylor said.

Anyone with information on this shooting was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477, he said.

    Sound's like gang activity. A friend used to live down in that area and the creeps from Linda Vista (just south of this incident) occasionally spilled their gang violence over into the surrounding communities. Someone was shot and killed over in Bird Land at the Valero gas station back then.
