Arson blamed for 7 fires set overnight

SAN DIEGO – At least seven small fires were intentionally set in the Grant Hill area of San Diego early Monday but no one was hurt and no homes were damaged, authorities said. 

House-fire-hydrant-sdfdThe fire spree occurred around 12:45 a.m. in the area of 29th and Commercial streets, according to a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher.

At least seven trash can, planter and tree fires were reported within a small time frame in the same area, she said, adding arson investigators were probing the incidents.

The fires occurred at 29th and Commercial streets, at 30th Street and Imperial Avenue, on G, 28th and Hoitt streets, and in a couple of alleys between 29th and Commercial streets, the dispatcher said.
