San Diego-Rain and wind caused dangerous situations in parts of East County Friday. The slick roads combined with speeding caused accidents including one on I-8 near Mission Gorge.
“Both passengers were shaken up,” said Captain Chris Babler with the San Diego Fire Department.
Captain Babler’s crew was responding to another accident when they saw this rollover accident happen before their eyes.
“The road conditions and the speed was too fast and it flipped over,” he said. The passengers were not injured.
In El Cajon people living in an RV park were forced to secure their areas due to the wind gusts.
“It’s a little scary,” said Chris Brasuell. He was tying down his awning hoping it wouldn’t blow away and hurt someone or cause damage to another structure.
“It can snap off and hit someone else’s RV,” he said.
San Diego County’s Storm Patrol is on alert all weekend long. Crews will be working in 12 hour shifts to make sure the county is covered and they’ll respond to any flooding and to any emergency calls due to wind and rain.
