Red light runner accused of fatal crash

CARLSBAD, Calif. — An investigation was under way Tuesday in Carlsbad, where a speeding motorist ran a red light and fatally hit another driver, police said.

carlsbad crashThe fatality at Rancho Santa Fe Road and Calle Barcelona occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, according to Carlsbad police Lt. Pete Pascual.

The driver of a Buick sedan ran a red light while speeding on south of Rancho Santa Fe Road and collided with the driver of red Ford Mustang in the intersection of Calle Barcelona, Pascual said in a statement.

The driver of the Mustang died after witnesses to the crash tried unsuccessfully to save him, the lieutenant said, noting the driver of the Buick sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Scripps La Jolla Hospital.

    Why hasn't there been any follow-up information about the driver in this horrible crash that killed an innocent young man?
