80-year-old man killed in Grantville crash

crimeSAN DIEGO – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office publicly named the 80-year-old man killed in a single vehicle car crash on Saturday afternoon in the Grantville neighborhood.

Albert Najera, 80, of San Diego was driving his Toyota pickup truck east on 4300 Twain Ave. near Mission Gorge Road when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a phone pole on the east side of the road, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.

It was not disclosed if it was known why Najera lost control of the vehicle, but he was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Firefighters attempted to revive Najera when they arrived on scene, but he did not respond and was pronounced dead at the scene, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
