Border Patrol agent injured in crash

SAN DIEGO — A Border Patrol agent was injured early Friday when he lost control of his truck and crashed into a tree, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Ambulance Arrives at HospitalThe 26-year-old agent was on duty driving a marked U.S. Border Patrol pickup southbound on Buckman Springs Road near Lake Morena when the truck went off the road and slammed into a tree, the CHP said.

The agent, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a fractured right hand and cuts to his face.  He was taken by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego. He is expected to recover.

The road was wet and it was raining at the time of the accident, the CHP said. The accident was under investigation, but neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a factor, according to investigators.
