Masked man robs City Heights store

robberySAN DIEGO — A masked thief armed with a pistol robbed a City Heights discount store Friday.

The bandit with a black-and-white bandana covering the lower part of his face confronted a clerk at the business in the 4600 block of University Avenue, pulled the gun and demanded cash shortly before 2 p.m., San Diego police officials said.

After the victim handed over an undisclosed amount of money, the robber fled the area in an unknown direction.

The suspect was described as a Latino in his late teens to mid-20s, wearing sunglasses and a black-hooded sweatshirt, SDPD Officer Frank Cali said.
