SAN DIEGO – San Diego football fans were celebrating the Chargers wild card playoff win with a 27-10 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Chargers fans packed bars and restaurants around the city to watch the game from Ohio, but police said no significant problems were reported.
San Diego Interim Mayor Todd Gloria was likely also celebrating the win, following a wager on the game made last week with Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley.
Gloria bet craft beer from Thorn St. Brewery and Hillcrest Brewing Co.,and promised to wear a Bengals jersey during his next scheduled media briefing if the Chargers came up short in the game, according to a post on his Twitter account.
Cranley put up food samples from three Queen City-based chains — Gold Star Chili, Graeter’s Ice Cream and Montgomery Inn barbecue, according to Gloria.
Gloria said following the Chargers’ win today, he couldn’t wait to eat some Cincinnati chili, barbecue and ice cream courtesy of Cranley, and San Diego was proud of the team.
oday’s meeting was the second for the two teams this season. The Bengals downed the Chargers 17-10 at Qualcomm Stadium last month.
