Driver thrown from car in freeway crash

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. — A woman suffered major injuries early Friday when she crashed her car into a light pole and was thrown from the vehicle, authorities said.

The crash on the southbound side of state Route 125, south of Jamacha Boulevard, was reported at 1:21 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Rescuers found the woman outside the car in brush along the side of the road. She had suffered major head trauma and other injuries.

The woman was taken to a local hospital, but no information was released about her condition.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
