Robber escapes after holdup at convenience store

ampmRobberySAN DIEGO — A man pretended to have a handgun while robbing a gas station convenience store in North Clairemont early Wednesday, police said.

The armed robbery at the am/pm store at 4498 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. was reported at 1:14 a.m., according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros. The robber fled on foot out the front door and no one was hurt, Delimitros said in a statement.

Police said the robber was in his 30s and around 5 feet 11, with a bulky build. He wore a black bandana, black hoodie and black gloves, Delimitros said.
