TorreyHighlandsWaterCrewSAN DIEGO — A ruptured water pipe Tuesday prompted closure of part of Camino Del Sur in the Torrey Highlands neighborhood, police said.

Water began pouring from the broken 24-inch pipe at  about 3 a.m. City crews closed the northbound lanes in the 14200 block of Camino Del Sur, according to San Diego police Detective Gary Hassen.

It took workers about three hours to shut off water to the pipe.

Traffic was being routed away from the area while crews dug down to the pipe to make repairs. Crews did not say how long it would take to fix the pipe and repair the roadway.
