Bridge construction to halt rail service

SAN DIEGO — Rail service along San Diego County’s coastline will be shutdown from Saturday, Nov. 16 to Sunday, Nov. 17, to accommodate construction at the Santa Margarita Bridge at Camp Pendleton, the North County Transit District announced Monday.

COASTERThe shutdown will impact the NCTD’s Coaster, Amtrak, Metrolink and freight trains on Saturday and Sunday.

People who normally ride the Coaster on weekends are urged to ride the Breeze Route 101 bus and access Metropolitan Transit System connections, according to the NCTD.

The rail line is scheduled to reopen in time for the morning commute next Monday.

Amtrak officials did not immediate respond to a query on how they will handle the shutdown.
